a. Functions and tasks

  • Provide advice to the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City on the management, training, and application of information technology and communication in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Implement training and development programs for information technology and communication human resources in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Conduct assigned tasks and exercise authority delegated by the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City and in accordance with the law.
  • Provide vocational training in the field of information technology and communication at the intermediate level, under the guidance, instruction, and examination of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City.

b. Formation and development process

  • Year 2001: The Information Technology Training Center of Ho Chi Minh City was established according to Decision No. 3011/QD-UBND of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Year 2010: Information and Mass Communication Institute of Ho Chi Minh City (IMC) was established based on Decision No. 2399/QD-UBND of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. IMC is a public school located in the Innovation Building, Quang Trung Software Park, Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Up to now, IMC has made steady progress in training in the field of Information Technology (IT) and Communication at the intermediate level, as well as providing regular training and upgrading courses for officials in various departments, districts, and cities in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region.
